SveTruck – The forklift without an Ego

Cooper Specialised Handling have supplied two high-specification SveTruck 16 tonne capacity forklifts to Forklift Solutions for onward sale to Spartan UK Ltd in Newcastle, Tyneside.

Spartan UK Ltd are a division of Metinvest Group and Spartan UK plate mill on Tyneside is a quarto universal reversing mill, with automatic gauge control, capable of producing up to 200 K tonnes of steel plate per year.  Forklift Solutions, based in Gateshead and having an extensive network in the North East have been the principle equipment provider to Spartan UK for 8 years.

Chris Barnes, Sales Director at Cooper SH stated “This was a challenge given one of the harshest environments a lift truck will be working.  The application at Spartan Metals involves handling steel billets post manufacturing where the product still holds a temperature of 1000 deg Celsius, coupled with a foundry style environment, it is one of the harshest environments I have seen in the UK for forklifts”.

Cooper supplies the machines with a set of dedicated options such as solid lower steps, heat shielding on front of the lift carriage and special cabin filtration to improve the driver’s breathable air quality.

Chris Foster, Director and owner of Forklift Solutions stated “SveTruck are renowned as indestructible forklifts and they certainly living up to their reputation.  We have supplied this customer for over 8 years now and have learned that, in this environment, it tests every part of the machine’s limit.  We are happy, the phone does not ring at 6am every morning to say we have another breakdown at Spartan Steel”.

The two machines are supplied as part of a complete package including maintenance performed by Forklift Solutions.
